The Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises (HAEE) is the largest domestic environmental advocacy organisation, whose members represent the entire Hungarian environmental industry sector and are key players in economic life.
With nearly 290 member companies, supporters, and associate members, the Association has been working for more than 30 years to promote cooperation and further training among players in the domestic environmental, nature conservation, and environmental industries. The Association is a key partner of the state administration and nearly all key players in the economic sector.
The Association organises numerous conferences and other informational events each year to disseminate professional information and current events.
Areas of expertise and working groups
The member companies of the Association engage in various areas of environmental protection through their activities. The work of these segments is supported by thematic working groups specialising in the relevant field.
Newsletter
Every two weeks, members receive a newsletter containing information about current events, publications, public procurement, draft legislation, published legislation, EU legislation, foreign business inquiries, exhibitions, and conference opportunities that affect environmental businesses. The newsletter also provides an opportunity for member companies to publish their latest news, which helps them to maintain contact with other member companies and establish new partnerships and business relationships.
Environmental Responsibility Statement
In 2012, the Association prepared its Environmental Responsibility Statement, thereby reinforcing its commitment to the environmental industry. The Environmental Responsibility Statement was renewed in 2017 and can be read here.
Environmental Protection Award
As the largest domestic environmental protection advocacy organisation, the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises (HAEE) considers it essential to recognise the work of the most outstanding ecological protection professionals. Founded in 2001, the Environmental Protection Award is the longest-running award in the industry, and the Association aims to draw widespread attention to the achievements of the prize.
The award is presented in three categories (business, individual, and youth) at the annual Environmental Protection Meeting and Awards Gala.
ÖKOINDUSTRIA
Since 2009, the Association has been organising the ÖKOINDUSTRIA® environmental industry exhibition every two years, showcasing the latest achievements and innovations in the domestic environmental industry.
The 6th ÖKOINDUSTRIA event took place online between April 28 and 30, 2021, providing a forum for numerous domestic and international professional conferences over the course of three days.
With the co-organisation of the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises (HAEE) and the support of the ÖKOINDUSTRIA trade fair, HUNGEXPO Zrt., as a traditional and prominent player in the domestic and Central and Eastern European exhibition market, will introduce a new, much-needed exhibition to the Hungarian market in the fall of 2024. With the professional support of Messe & Marketing Michael Pittscheidt, the first ENVIRONTEC, powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA, international trade fair for the environmental industry, infrastructure development, waste, and water management, will open its doors next fall. The professional event is being held with the full support of ÖKOINDUSTRIA, the environmental industry trade fair organised by KSZGYSZ since 2009, in both terms of theme and professional accompaniment. The experienced event will be held with the full support of ÖKOINDUSTRIA, the environmental industry exhibition organised by KSZGYSZ since 2009, in both terms of theme and accompanying professional events.
International projects
Between 2020 and 2022, our association participated as one of the leading partners in the INTERREG DTP Tid(y)Up project, entitled “Follow the plastic from the source to the sea,” a coordinated action plan aimed at eliminating plastic pollution in the Danube and Tisza rivers.
In 2013, KSZGYSZ joined the GREEN PACK International Project, which was supported by the EU FP7 Framework Program and concluded in 2019—the project aimed to create 100% recyclable packaging material suitable for food storage from PET.
In 2020, the “Five Countries, One River” Erasmus+ program, coordinated by the Plastic Cup Society, was launched in the public education category, with the participation of 10 partners from five countries. Over the course of three years, teachers, environmental educators, and representatives from civil organisations in the five countries affected by the Tisza collaborated to raise awareness among primary school students about river protection, educate them on waste prevention, and introduce them to the possibilities and importance of plastic waste recycling.
We are truly honoured that the Tid(y)Up project was selected as a Flagship by the respective Steering Groups of EUSDR National Coordinators and Priority Area Coordinators. Although our project closed in 2022, we remain dedicated to continuing our work in the field of micro and macro plastic contamination assessment and addressing the issue of river pollution. Our ongoing Interreg AQUATIC PLASTIC project is addressing river pollution in 10 countries of the Danube Region. AQPLA aims to provide a comprehensive database and methodology for mapping riverine plastic waste, utilising artificial barriers such as Hydroelectric Power Plants (HPPs) and implementing remote sensing technologies as tools to measure, monitor, and divert riverine plastic waste accumulations from nature to landfills. AQPLA news can be followed here: https://kszgysz.hu/aquatic-plastic/
Green Job Portal
To ensure a steady supply of skilled workers, the Association operates a free Green Job Portal, where our member companies regularly post job advertisements and students from various educational institutions sear for thesis topics, internships, and job opportunities. We recommend using the Green Industry Job Portal.
In 2019, we launched our project entitled “Coordinating supply and demand in the labour market for the effective operation of domestic environmental industry enterprises” (GINOP-5.3.5-18-2018-00047).
