Ukraine's waste management is being strengthened

Sida has granted Avfall Sverige and SALAR International project funds to strengthen waste management in Ukraine. The project, which is a shorter feasibility study, aims to create a long-term program and benefit from Sweden's expertise in waste management.

The project runs until March 2024 and is done in collaboration with authorities, municipalities and other actors within the EU and Ukraine. The project will map the current situation and make a plan for the longer-term work, develop skills and promote local collaborations with a focus on strong local ownership and commitment. The goal is to improve Ukraine's waste management according to EU standards. Important parties in this work are, of course, Avfall Sverige’s members, the municipalities, who possess a high level of expertise in the area.
