The Working Group on Remediation and Mitigation met again on 1 February 2024.
Gergely Tóth, member of the Board (HAEE) and head of the working group welcomed the participants and presented the programme. Nikoletta Keszthelyi, Deputy State Secretary for the Environment (Ministry of Energy), was the guest of the working group meeting, who summarized the main events of the last year (6 suitable conference series on the KEHOP project, survey of 44 areas under state responsibility, resulting in 11 fact-finding reports, 7 intervention plans and 25 status assessments).
The Association's working group presented its proposals for the legislative background for the remediation, which will be submitted in written form to the Ministry.
Gergely Hankó, the managing director of HAEE presented the concept of the Environtec expo, where the biennial international RE:Brown conference 2024 will take place on 2 October 2024. The WG set up the organizing committee, and the process of drafting the theme and soliciting and evaluating abstracts was discussed. The registration for the abstracts will be available soon.
Lastly, Gergely Hankó briefly presented the Green Economy 2023/24 study booklet and the HUSKROUA tender on mine contaminations. The Board particularly encouraged participation in the forthcoming NICOLE conference in the spring (conference and workshop to be held in Liége and Brussels).
