Sida has granted Avfall Sverige and SALAR International project funds to strengthen waste management in Ukraine. The project, which is a shorter feasibility study, aims to create a long-term program and benefit from Sweden's expertise in waste management.

The PET Cup Society is dedicated to saving our beloved rivers from pollution. During the past 10 years, it has grown up from scratch to international best practices. In 2022, together with the partners we prevented and diverted 10 times more amount of pollution (cca. 700 tonnes) in the upstream countries than what we’ve collected in Hungary. Our Association has been a partner for a long time and supported the work with its resources and professional network, involving member companies’ expertise.

Washington, D.C. (July 31, 2023)- EARTHDAY.ORG, the global organizer of Earth Day, has announced the global theme for Earth Day 2024: Planet vs. Plastics.
Planet vs. Plastics unites students, parents, businesses, governments, churches, unions, individuals, and NGOs in an unwavering commitment to call for the end of plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040 and an ultimate goal of building a plastic-free future for generations to come.

Between 25 and 26 July 2023, Phan Nhu Thuc PhD, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of Da Nang University of Science and Technology, visited Budapest at the invitation of the International Education Office of Óbuda University, after the President of our Association, Dr. Csaba Ágoston personally presented the operation of the Hungarian green industry and the experiences of the Association at several Vietnamese universities.

The purpose of Phan Nhu Thuc's visit was to learn in detail about plastic waste management and the Hungarian circular economy and to share the University of Óbuda's experience in plastic waste management and odor control in Da Nang city and the central region of Vietnam in general.
His programme included a visit to the laboratories of the University's Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Natural Sciences and a visit to the Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering to discuss opportunities for research and educational cooperation.
A visit to the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises was made to present Hungarian practice, where Gergely Hankó, Managing Director, presented the activities of the Association.
During his visit, which lasted several days, a meeting was also held at Biokör Kft., where he got to know the structure and operation of the laboratory.
Visit at the River Rescue Centre in Kisköre
Together, they visited the River Rescue Centre in Kisköre, where KÖTIVIZIG experts presented the problem of waste pollution at the dam and the possibilities for its remediation, followed by a presentation on the methods of sorting, pre-treatment and recovery of river waste at the PET Cup River Rescue Centre.

On 14 April we participated in a workshop entitled "The European Green Deal and Biodiversity", organized by the Hungarian Association of Nature Conservationists. The conference was hosted by the Pázmány Péter Catholic University.
